Human Resources Specialist

  • Serve as a Human Resources Specialist at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) to provide comprehensive Human Capital management support to senior officials and the Human Resources Officer.
  • Provide statistical analysis and make plans and recommendations for the future development of the organizational structure and position management of ANC.
  • Apply a comprehensive knowledge of recruitment and placement principles and concepts, position management and classification, and broad personnel management knowledge to identify, analyze and resolve unique ANC problems.
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring efforts, including acting as the lead for this effort, and formulating policies and plans to recruit and retain a high quality ANC workforce.
  • Advise on the full range of LMER topics such as discipline, leave (FMLA, VLTP, sick leave, LWOP, veteran?s leave, etc.), telework, work schedules, labor relations, performance plan development, DPMAP, awards, drug testing and OWCP issues.

Electrician

  • Independently plan and lay out electrical systems, determines type and size of materials needed and completes installation, modifications and repairs with little check during progress of work.
  • Perform electrical work in connection with the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, clean, repair, test, and adjust light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, office and heating appliances, fire alarms, clocks, rheostats, thermostats and electrical drills, grinders and shop equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair major electrical items and equipment which have complex electronic-electrical circuitry, e.g., fire alarm systems, water pressure switches, electro-temperature thermostats, relays, and audible signaling devices.

Maintenance Mechanic (Plumber)

  • Install, modify, repair, and maintain a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil,and gas distribution systems.
  • Ensure the proper slant, slope, fall, or level of installations to provide for proper flow, drainage, and sanitary operating conditions and to prevent backflow vacuum, or air lock conditions.
  • Troubleshoot various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and other cross connection devices.
  • Plan and accomplish work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics.
  • Determine proper piping, valves, and fittings required to accomplish assignments.
  • Utilize a variety of manual welding practices to combine commonly used metals.

Supervisory Plans and Operations Specialist

  • Defining, planning, managing, and drafting orders, plans, and related documents in direct support of operations and special events directed by the White House and Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Oversee the day-to-day staff administration and operation Section responsible for Arlington National Cemetery and the U.S. Soldier?s and Airman?s Home, National Cemetery operational/functional plans and special events.
  • Review and edit policy statements to ensure they reflect the command?s intent.
  • Lead, conduct, or participate in complex management studies and reviews.
  • Develop, design, and direct the implementation of program evaluations to determine effective and efficient practices.
