Access restrictions in place on Nov. 20 for an event at JFK Gravesite

Access is restricted at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, Nov. 20th from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for a special event at President John F. Kennedy's gravesite. Arlington House will also be closed starting at 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Pedestrian traffic in Sections 2, 5, 30, 31, 32, 33, 45 will be prohibited from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sheridan and Weeks Drives are closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Portions of Roosevelt Drive will be closed (between Eisenhower and McCellan). Grant Drive will also be closed between Roosevelt and McCellan Drives. Funeral services will not be impacted by closures. Pedestrian access to the Memorial Amphitheater and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is accessible by Eisenhower Drive to McCellan up to Roosevelt Drive. Special Guided Walking Tour: "Horticulture Program at Arlington National Cemetery" ARLINGTON, Va. -- Arlington National Cemetery will host a special guided walking tour of its Horticulture Program on Nov. 1 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Steve Van Hoven, ANC's urban forester and horticulture division chief, will provide on-site discussions that showcase Arlington's turf and grounds maintenance, landscaping techniques, and urban forestry program. Participants will also get to see and learn more about its three state champion trees. The tour will start at the Arlington National Cemetery Welcome Center. The tour is free-of-charge, but reservations are required. Please call (703) 614-1091 or register online at http://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Events/Calendar.aspx by Oct. 31. The Welcome Center is accessible via the Blue Line on the Metro. Parking is also available at the Welcome Center parking lot.

Upgrades to the Eternal Flame at President John F. Kennedy's gravesite are now complete and Arlington National Cemetery will transfer the flame used at its temporary location to the permanent Eternal Flame.

Road Closures on Oct. 27 for the Marine Corps Marathon

On Sunday, October 27, 2013, there will be various road closures in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia during the Marine Corps Marathon that will affect traffic patterns in and around the capital. There will be no vehicle access into Arlington National Cemetery from Memorial Ave for most of Sunday. Route 110 will also be closed until around 4 p.m.
