5. Monumental Arcade and Boxes for Dignitaries

At ceremonies held in the Amphitheater, the monumental arcade and boxes provide elevated viewing for senior military and civilian leaders. Beneath the arcade, a basement level contains crypt space for approximately 300 burials of high-ranking or distinguished military personnel. However, these crypts were never utilized.

More than 5,000 visitors typically attend each of the two major annual services held at Memorial Amphitheater on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The seating area has a series of white marble benches and circular black metal signs that label the sections. Sans-serif letters give the signage a historic appearance.
