Millennium Project Update

The Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Millennium Project has been signed. All comments submitted on both the December Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and the March Revised EA are included in the appendices along with responses. These comments were all considered as part of the assessment and some of these resulted in alterations to the project design.

The Air Force Association Cycling Classic is taking place June 8-9, 2013, in Arlington, Va. On June 9, the ramps to and from Route 110 and Route 27 from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Arlington National Cemetery will remain accessible to vehicles from Memorial Circle via Arlington Memorial Bridge or the George Washington Parkway.

The annual National Memorial Day Observance to honor America's fallen military service members is scheduled for Monday, May 27 at Arlington National Cemetery. The U.S. Army Military District of Washington will conduct a Presidential Armed Forces Full Honor Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknowns, to be followed by an observance program hosted by the Department of Defense in Arlington's Memorial Amphitheater.

New automated parking pay system at Arlington National Cemetery

New Automated Parking at Arlington National Cemetery Arlington National Cemetery installed an automated parking pay system. Here are the new parking procedures: • Keep your ticket with you. • Pay at the kiosks in the Welcome Center as you are leaving the Cemetery and returning to the parking facility. There are CASH and CREDIT CARD pay stations inside the Welcome Center. • CREDIT CARD ONLY pay stations are located in the parking facility exit lanes. • Once your ticket is paid, you will have 20 minutes to exit the parking facility with your receipt ticket. • If you lose your parking ticket, you must obtain and pay for a lost ticket at the pay stations inside the Welcome Center. Lost tickets are subject to the “7-8 Hour” daily charge.

Arlington National Cemetery dedicates its ninth columbarium court by conducting joint committal service for forgotten veterans

Arlington National Cemetery will dedicate its ninth columbarium court on May 9, 2013 by conducting a joint full honors committal service for six unclaimed remains of veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces. The committal service will start at 9 a.m. and will be open to the public. Arlington officials partnered with the Missing in America Project to identify the six unclaimed remains, who will be the first inurnments in the ninth columbarium court. MIAP is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that locates, identifies and inters the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans.
