Items that illuminate or emit sounds

12/20/2012
The United States Army has adopted the recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Arlington National Cemetery to control some of the personal items placed in the cemetery, including Section 60. Items that illuminate and emit sounds, such as wind chimes and tree lights, are prohibited throughout Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington is now required to remove all of these items. In addition, all other non-natural items will be removed from trees, shrubbery, and bushes on January 26, 2013, the same day the "Remembrance Wreaths" are removed. We ask for assistance in maintaining the dignity and decorum of a military cemetery at Arlington by refraining from placing items in the cemetery that illuminate or emit sounds.
