Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial will be Closed For Museum Collections Return Nov. 8-14.
The National Park Service is closing Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial, Nov. 8-14 to re-install exhibits and museum collections.
Arlington House has just completed an extensive five-year restoration project during which new climate management and fire suppression systems were installed, and the mansion interior was rehabilitated. During the project all historic furnishings and artifacts were removed from the mansion for their protection and preservation.
Arlington House is the nation’s memorial to General Robert E. Lee. The memorial, first dedicated in 1925, honors Lee for his role in promoting reunion following the Civil War.
