On Saturday, July 4, 2026, road and site closures around Arlington National Cemetery will affect visitors and family pass holders. Expect significant delays areawide, especially before and after the fireworks.
► Arlington National Cemetery will remain open as usual from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note that the cemetery's parking facility closes promptly at 6 p.m. and should not be used to attend evening events on the National Mall.
► The Air Force Memorial will be closed to the public all day July 4. Watching fireworks from the memorial grounds is not permitted. We kindly remind all pedestrians not to enter or cross the construction site in or around the Air Force Memorial. Normal operations will resume July 5.
The following road closures on July 4 will affect vehicle access to the cemetery:
• Memorial Circle and Memorial Bridge will close at 5 a.m. and remain closed all day until after the fireworks.
• Northbound GW Parkway/Memorial Circle from I-395 Northbound Ramp to Theodore Roosevelt Island will close at 6 a.m. Please see the map for impacted areas.
• I-66 East will close at the Route 110 split from about 9 a.m. to 11:15 p.m.
• North Meade Street and Marshall Drive will close at approximately 2 p.m.
• Ord and Weitzel Gate access to ANC will be open to pedestrians only beginning at 2 p.m.
• Memorial Avenue from Route 110 North will remain open for cemetery access.
• For public safety, police may add closures at their discretion. Please monitor the Arlington County Police Department, DC.gov and the National Park Service websites for updates and a detailed list of closures.
We strongly encourage visitors to use Metro:
• Arlington Cemetery station (Blue Line): A short walk to and from the Welcome Center.
• Rosslyn station (Blue, Orange and Silver lines): Approximately 15-minute walk to the Ord and Weitzel pedestrian gate at the cemetery's north end, near the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial.
