Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall to Host Annual Easter Sunrise Service

The annual National Military Easter Sunrise Service, hosted by Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall (JBM-HH), will be held on Sunday, April 5, at Arlington National Cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater. The service, which will take place from 6:30 to 8 a.m., will also be livestreamed on the Joint Base Facebook page

The non-denominational Easter Sunrise Service provides a celebration of hope and spiritual enrichment for all who view it. The service begins with a prelude by the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” at 6:15 a.m. The call to worship begins at 6:30 a.m.

►  Amphitheater seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

►  Arlington National Cemetery gates will open at 5 a.m.

► There are two ways to access the cemetery for the service. Please follow the guidance below. 


General Public (Guests Without a Department of War ID)

•  Enter ANC via Memorial Avenue and park in the Welcome Center parking garage, where parking is free from 5 to 9 a.m. on Easter Sunday. Fees for parking begin after 9 a.m.

•  A free shuttle service will transport all guests from the ANC Welcome Center to the Memorial Amphitheater.  

•  Guests may not walk to the Amphitheater from the parking garage.


DoW ID Card Holders Only

•  DoW ID card holders may enter ANC with the general public via Memorial Avenue (main entrance). They may also enter JBM-HH via the main gate (Hatfield Gate) and park at Old Post Chapel in the Tri-Services Parking Lot. A free shuttle will transport guests to the Amphitheater. Please note the Trusted Traveler program at JBM-HH is suspended. Click here for more information

•  Following the service, shuttles will transport guests back to the parking lots. Guests may also walk back to their parked vehicles.


More Information

•  Prohibited items include backpacks, weapons, alcohol, laser pointers, drones, pop-up tents/quick shades and pets (including emotional support and therapy animals).

•  Certified service animals are welcome.

•  Blankets, seat cushions, chairs, baby strollers, diaper bags and water in clear, plastic bottles are allowed.

•  For those who choose to view the service online, please access the JBM-HH Facebook page at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.

•  In the case of inclement weather, the service will be held in Memorial Chapel, located on the Myer campus of the joint base. In the event of a weather call, visitors will not be able to access the joint base through Arlington National Cemetery.
