Parking Garage Entrance and Exit Reduced to One Lane During Pavement Rehabilitation Project

2/25/2026

From late February until approximately mid-March 2026, a pavement rehabilitation project will impact vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the intersection of King Drive and Memorial Avenue, near the main entrance to Arlington National Cemetery.

While most construction will take place after operating hours, the project will reduce the entrance to the Arlington National Cemetery parking garage to a single lane, which may cause delays for visitors entering and exiting the cemetery. Read below for more details on potential impacts.

Vehicular Impacts

  • King Drive (at Memorial Avenue), normally a two-way roadway, will be reduced to one laneFlaggers will be present during normal hours of operation to help manage traffic between Memorial Avenue and the cemetery’s parking garage. This activity will not impact parking garage operations or the grounds.

The following traffic movements will be affected:

  • Entering: Turning left from Memorial Avenue westbound to King Drive southbound

  • Departing: Turning right from King Drive northbound to Memorial Avenue eastbound

Pedestrian Impacts

  • Pedestrians traveling between the cemetery’s main entrance and the Arlington Cemetery Metro station should follow construction signs to use the sidewalk along the north side of Memorial Avenue. These signs will be clearly visible from the Arlington Cemetery Metro station from both directions.

The project schedule may be subject to change due to weather conditions. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
