Medal of Honor Day: Educational Presentation

3/25/2021

Join Arlington National Cemetery on March 25 at 12:25 p.m. for a Facebook Live streamed video of the Armed Forces Full Honors Wreath Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Three living Medal of Honor Recipients will join Maj. Gen. Omar Jones, commanding general, U.S. Army Military District of Washington, to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The livestreamed Wreath Ceremony will be followed by Part III of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centennial Commemoration educational series, featuring the Congressional Medal of Honor.

In a special video presentation, Gen. Mark Milley, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Robert Foley and Vice Air Marshall Mick Smeath discuss topics including the history of the Congressional Medal of Honor; the Crow Nation’s gift presented at the dedication of Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on November 11, 1921; Americans who have been awarded the Victoria Cross (Great Britain); why wreath ceremonies for the Unknowns are so important to Americans and international visitors; and the story of how a young captain earned the Medal of Honor in Vietnam.
