ANC Plans for Limited Reopening on Tuesday, Feb. 10

Arlington National Cemetery plans to reopen with modified access for visitors and family pass holders beginning Tuesday, Feb. 10. However, please be advised that some sites and sections may remain temporarily inaccessible due to snow and ice.  The tram plans to stop at key sites (Memorial Amphitheater, Kennedy gravesites, and Arlington House); however, other stops may be suspended to discourage visitors from walking in hazardous, icy sections. The graveside shuttle will not operate until the icy conditions improve and sections are safer and more accessible for walking.

Due to extremely cold temperatures, Arlington National Cemetery will be closed to visitors and family pass holders on Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27. Funerals will continue as scheduled.

Due to inclement weather, Arlington National Cemetery will close to visitors and family pass holders at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 and will remain closed all day on Sunday, Jan. 27 and Monday, Jan. 28.  


Arlington National Cemetery to Hold Annual Wreaths Out Event on Sat., Jan. 10

ARLINGTON, Va. – Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery (SAHNC) in Washington, D.C. will hold their annual removal of wreaths, known as Wreaths Out, on Saturday, Jan. 10, beginning at 8 a.m.

Construction Notice: MOC Trailer Removal

Beginning Oct. 2025 until mid-December 2025, demolition work will impact the modular office trailer campus. The campus is located off King Drive and Eisenhower Drive, directly across from the funeral queuing lanes and next to the Administrative Building. Crews generally work between 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. on weekdays, excluding federally recognized holidays. Please be advised that this work may result in elevated noise levels


Wreaths Across America Day to Be Held at Arlington National Cemetery on Dec. 13

ARLINGTON, Va. – On Saturday, Dec. 13, the annual Wreaths Across America (WAA) event will be held at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and the Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery (SAHNC). Visitors will lay wreaths throughout ANC and SAHNC on headstones and columbarium niches to honor the sacrifice of our nation’s service members and veterans. ANC will open to visitors at 8 a.m., and SAHNC will open at noon.

“As we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary, this event offers a profound reminder of the sacrifices made by service members during every major conflict in American history,” said Executive Director of the Office of Army Cemeteries and Army National Military Cemeteries Karen Durham-Aguilera. “By honoring the service and legacies of those laid to rest within these hallowed grounds, we inspire future generations to carry forward the values of duty, courage and commitment to our country.”


New Exhibit at Arlington National Cemetery Features Artifact from the USS Maine

ARLINGTON, Va.—Arlington National Military Cemeteries (ANMC) is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit in the Memorial Amphitheater Display Room, featuring a rare artifact from the USS Maine. The U.S. Navy ship tragically exploded in Cuba’s Havana Harbor on Feb. 15, 1898—killing more than 260 sailors and Marines and leading to the Spanish-American War.
