Remembering the Sacred 20 at ANC: A Walking Tour in Honor of the Navy Birthday

In honor of the birthday of the U.S. Navy, Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) is pleased to present a new specialty public walking tour on Friday, Oct. 13, focused on the Sacred 20, the first women to join the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. ANC will be hosting historians from the U.S. Navy to share this fascinating story by exploring sites that range from memorials to graves.


Fall 2023 Horticulture Tours

ANC Reopens to the Public

On Friday, ANC's response teams and local law enforcement partners spent the morning on site investigating the threat. Nothing suspicious was found, and law enforcement safely cleared all areas. The cemetery remained closed for the remainder on the day.


Arlington National Cemetery Remains Closed After Investigating Bomb Threat

Arlington National Cemetery officials and Joint Base Myer Henderson-Hall emergency services responded to a bomb threat early this morning. The cemetery closed to the public and funeral services scheduled this morning were postponed. The cemetery's response teams and local law enforcement partners spent the morning on site investigating the threat. Nothing suspicious was found, and law enforcement safely cleared all areas.

Arlington National Cemetery officials and Joint Base Myer Henderson-Hall emergency services are currently responding to a bomb threat. The cemetery is closed to the general public and funeral services have been delayed until further notice. The cemetery's response teams and local law enforcement partners are on site investigating the threat. The public is requested to avoid the area and wait for updates posted to our social media platforms. 


Memorial Avenue Construction

From Sept. 7 through Oct. 10, 2023, Arlington National Cemetery is undertaking a construction project on Memorial Avenue, its main roadway entrance for visitors and families. The project, which will include milling, paving and traffic enhancement, will improve traffic flow for both pedestrians and motorists.

Arlington, VA—The Pentagon Memorial Fund (PMF), with Army National Military Cemeteries (ANMC) as the lead federal agency, is proposing to construct and operate a Visitor Education Center (VEC) for the existing 9/11 Pentagon Memorial on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery (ANC).

Turf Renovations

August 07, 2023

Arlington National Cemetery annually renovates more than 30 acres of turf. This process involves removing the old turf and weeds, tilling the soil, grading the grave sites and planting new grass from seed. Each year, the Horticulture Division assigns sections for renovation as needed. The long-term result will be a much healthier, thicker turf and ground that is much more level.
