ARLINGTON, VA— Arlington National Cemetery (ANC), in collaboration with the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), announced today they will close public access to the Southern Expansion portion of Arlington National Cemetery, which includes access to the Air Force Memorial, on July 4. The memorial will reopen to the public on July 5.
ARLINGTON, VA—Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) is honored to announce the first Flowers of Remembrance Day on May 28, 2022 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
On April 6, pile driving work on the retaining wall construction will begin at the easternmost section closest to Joyce Street. Work will continue on Thursday, April 7 and Monday, April 11. There will be no pile driving work on Friday, April 8. Work will take place from daylight through dusk.
The annual Easter Sunrise Service held at Arlington National Cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater will once again be held in person Sunday, April 17, hosted by Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Commander Col. David D. Bowling. Due to the pandemic, the service was held virtually the past two years and will be live-streamed this year as well via Facebook at www.facebook.com/jbmhh/. The Easter Sunrise Service is a non-denominational worship service and begins with a prelude by the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” at 6:15 a.m.
Beginning April 4, 2022, a traffic pattern shift will be implemented along Southgate Road between S. Joyce Street and Ode Street, in accordance with the Arlington National Cemetery Defense Access Roads project’s Maintenance of Traffic plans.
Effective March 3, 2022, based on new Department of Defense (DOD) guidance, Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) is no longer requiring face coverings to be worn indoors, due to low community levels of COVID-19. This applies to all service members, federal personnel, contractors and ANC visitors. ANC will continue to follow OSD guidance and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines as we monitor COVID-19 conditions and will provide updates to policies as required.
On Monday, February 7, 2022, Arlington National Cemetery reinstated payment for parking in the ANC Parking Garage, near the ANC Welcome Center on Memorial Avenue. Rates for the parking garage are $3 per hour, with a daily maximum of $12 a day for passenger vehicles. Commercial vehicles, such as tour buses and RVs, will have a rate of $10 an hour, with a daily maximum of $40.
ARLINGTON, VA—Nearly 38,000 members of the public placed 257,000 wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery last month for National Wreaths Across America Day. Next week, these wreaths will be retired. On Saturday, January 22, the public is invited to participate in the dignified removal of these wreaths. This event, Wreaths Out, will begin at 8 a.m.
ARLINGTON, VA – Wreaths Across America (WAA) will take place at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and the Soldiers’ and Airmen's Home National Cemetery (SAHNC) on two different days this year, one reserved for family pass holders and the other for the public. On National Wreaths Across America Day, ANC will be one of 3,100 participating locations nationwide where wreaths are placed by a volunteer at the base of a veteran’s headstone or columbarium niche to honor their legacy and remember their sacrifice. This will be the 30th year that the non-profit’s founder, Morrill Worcester, will be placing wreaths at ANC.
